Course Introduction
Following Level 1, this Safeguarding Children (Level 2) course will provide intermediate awareness and understanding of safeguarding children. It will enable you to act as an effective child advocate, and have confidence to correctly document and report matters through identified routes, keeping appropriate records.

This course can be delivered as a Workshop, Classroom style or Virtual Live Online Training.
Topics Covered (+ Level 1 Course)
Understand what constitutes child maltreatment and be able to identify signs of child abuse or neglect (in all forms)
Act as an effective child advocate
Identify your professional role, responsibilities, boundaries and understand those of colleagues in a multidisciplinary team and multi-agency setting
How and when to refer to social care if a safeguarding/ child protection concern is identified
Correctly document safeguarding/ child protection concerns in a format that informs the relevant staff and agencies appropriately
Understand the impact a parent/ carers physical and mental health can have on wellbeing in order to be able to identify a child or young person at risk
Understand how to maintain appropriate records including being able to differentiate between fact and opinion
Be aware of the risk of FGM and implications of disclosure
Be aware of the risk factors for grooming and exploitation to support and/or commit acts of terrorism (radicalisation)
Identify and refer a child suspected of being a victim of trafficking and/or sexual exploitation
Course Description
This 4-hour Safeguarding Children (Level 2) course is aimed at ALL staff who have any contact (however small) with children, young people and/or parents/ carers or any adult who may pose a risk to children.
Following on from Level 1, the aim of this course is to provide awareness of child safeguarding and confidence to report matters through identified routes.
You will be confident to act as an effective child advocate, learn about the importance of protecting the rights of children and how critical partnership working is.
