This Safeguarding Adults (Level 1) course will provide basic awareness of safeguarding adults at risk of harm and is aimed at ALL staff so they know what to do if there are concerns about abuse, harm or neglect.

Topics Covered
Understand what constitutes an adult at risk and need for a safeguarding intervention
Know about adult abuse, harm and neglect in its different forms and the potential impact on adults at risk of harm
Know about the relevance of family and carer factors such as domestic abuse, mental and physical ill-health, substance and alcohol misuse
Know what to do if there are concerns, including local policies and procedures around who to contact, where to obtain advice and support
Understand the importance of co-operation, sharing information and the consequences of failing to do so
Know what to do if concerns are not being taken seriously or if you experience any barriers to raising a concern
Awareness of the principles of mental capacity legislation and the relevance and impact in adult safeguarding
Course Description
This 2-hour Safeguarding Adults (Level 1) course is aimed at ALL staff working with or for the benefit of adults. This might be in a primary healthcare or education setting including receptionists, counter and admin staff, and non exec and Board-level Directors.
The aim of this course is to provide awareness of adult safeguarding and confidence to report matters through identified routes. It centres upon the safeguarding areas of recognising, responding, recording, reporting and reviewing.
This course focuses on adult abuse, harm and neglect in its different forms.
In addition, you will learn about the principles of mental capacity legislation.
