Course Introduction

This course provides basic awareness of Prevent Strategy and is aimed at ALL staff that have contact with adults, children and young people and/or parents/ carers. Prevent training is about understanding the threat from terrorism and extremism in the UK and how to support people vulnerable to radicalisation.

Topics Covered

Awareness and understanding of the Prevent Strategy – part of the government’s overall counter-terrorism strategy
Know professional responsibilities in relation to the safeguarding of adults, children and young people at risk
Understand the vulnerability factors that can make individuals susceptible to radicalisation
Know who(m) to contact and where to seek advice if there are concerns

Be able to recognise potential indicators of risk relating to individuals being radicalised
Understand what direct or indirect factors might have on individuals and how it might change their thoughts and behaviours
Be confident to raise concerns and take action
Understand the importance of sharing information and the consequences of failing to do so

This 4 hour Prevent awareness course is aimed at ALL staff that have contact with safeguarding adults, children and young people and/ or parents/ carers.

This course ensures delegates understand their roles and responsibilities concerning all aspects of the Prevent Strategy – the threat from terrorism and extremism in the UK and how to support people vulnerable to radicalisation.
